I have questions about wifi!

Hello, I am curious about how I mite acquire a viable hotspot I have the grandfathered unlimited on Verizon, so i am unable to use my phone's built in hotspot without ludicrous payments for minute amounts of data
. I was wondering about routers, either through using the sim card itself, or through a connection via USB or however. Any info or recommendations would be helpeful
