Open beta programs are becoming quite popular within the Android community as of late. Samsung did one of these last year for the Nougat update, Sony has been doing this for a little while, Google has had their developer preview program (which turned into the Android Beta program), and OnePlus is doing the same with their open betas. This is actually great for the community at large as it puts pre-release software into the hands of more people so they can catch bugs before the official rollout.
This sometimes leads to delays in OTA update rollouts since there are a number of bugs that are found in these updates. Different companies handle these beta programs in different ways. Sometimes they are open and free to anyone who wants (like Google and OnePlus' programs), while others are closed and require you to send in a request and hope that you get picked. Honor's beta program will be the latter where you fill out a form and hope that you're picked to participate.
US residents can fill out this form right here and that will be your application to join the Honor Beta program. They're asking for your name, email address, zip code, and then asking why you want to be part of the beta and why you think you're a good fit for the program. The interesting part is that the Honor Beta program goes beyond just testing out pre-release software for select Honor devices (although Honor hasn't revealed which devices are currently available for beta testing).
So along with beta testing software that is not available to the public, Honor says select participants could also get to test out pre-release hardware too. They don't mention if the product will be sent to you, or if you'll have to drive to a specific location to try it out, but it does show they're wanting to get some opinions on products and software from people who are not directly employed by the company.
