[Q]Getting root on a stock AT&T M8 for a user that used Android Pay?

I use Android pay (NFC) and am currently on the stock AT&T MM Rom. I've heard that if you unlock and root you can no longer use Android Pay etc. because of the secure SIM card won't work after root (meaning the secure part of the card becomes inactive, the card will still allow other stuff).
Is there a way to root etc. and still be able to use Android Pay? I just paid my phone off and now I'm thinking of rooting but I still want the Android Pay to work.
